The anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising is a big deal to Poles. A lot of stuff goes on in Buffalo (big Polish community here). August 1st, September 1st and Easter Monday, "Dingus Day". Honest question, why are the captions in English and not Polish? Smingus Dingus - I remember that from my time in Poland. I spent some months there on an exchange program last millennium. I asked myself the same thing about the language on the sign. If I were a Polish nationalist I am not sure I would like the use of a foreign language very much. I guess it was in English for the benefit of the international media. They could have used both languages though - that would have been more palatable.
