I've looked up the Denney story because there's some doubt about that too, apparently. The Louisiana state records office's website informs me that there was a "Glenn B. Denney" who died in Algiers, LA, in 1952, but one would have to pay for any more information--the cause of death, for example. Still, I think the story is somewhat verified, at least.
