This is a low key way to reboot without admitting defeat. If the "one offs" do well, they'll just happen to intersect and "naturally" form a new universe. Mark my words.
I suspect the same thing along with Flashpoint. Just get PHASE 1 (or whatever it's called) over with and begin with a clean slate.
