Pretty much, and people keep rewarding him for it. He has a very rabid fan base. They will go and see his movie multiple times in theaters – and by multiple times am talking half a dozen to a dozen. I'm not sure even they can help the next Avatar movie though. For as much money as it made, it doesn't really have much of a place in pop culture and is actually very heavily mocked.I think Cameron is actually aware of this part. I'm convinced that's why Avatar 2 has been delayed so many times. He knows the current crop of blockbusters is a threat to him maintaining dominance at the top of the box office and that's why he's been careful not to release it next to an MCU, DC, or any other major film.
