I guess you didn't watch The Dark Knight at all. The movie never once exploits the death for a tear or two like Furious 7 did with Paul Walker.

The fact that the marketing used Ledger's name is the obvious route to take. Not using his name and ignoring his tragic death would've been a big mistake. That would've disrespected his name.
