...In female representation on screen. From an interview with The Guardian... Neither Gal Gadot, Patty Jenkins, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, and other people who were involved with the film have said anything in regards to Cameron's comments, however Wonder Woman voice actress Susan Eisenberg says on her social media,
I respect Cameron as a director, from a technicality standout you might as well equate him to NASA in filmmaking terms with what he's achieved. However, he couldn't be more wrong here( Diana was definitely not played for eye candy in the movie) and his attempt to use his own character as an example of how to properly portray a strong female on screen is something of a self-own. While he does label Sarah as "tough" and having earning audience respect thru "pure grit" he does also list her being a "terrible mother" and not a "beauty icon" as reasons why, the latter of which kind of comes off as a jab at Linda Hamilton, his ex-wife, and her looks. It is also kind of ironic he's saying this, because I recall reading a scriptment or script version for his proposed Spider-Man movie where he overly described Mary Jane's appearance, painting her up like some kind of a playboy model posing a high school for a photoshoot, basically. Should also be noted that he wanted to cats Nikki Cox as MJ in his version and he had known her since she was a young girl on the set of Terminator 2 so make of that what you will.
