...i'm actually with Egoraptor on this one. it's been well enough established that the Walkman was emblematic Star-Lord's close connection to his mother. yes but it is still abysmally written: To have a dead-mommy revenge conflict (like in IM vs Cap "I don't care, he killed my mom") intersect with silly humor is absolutely tone deaf. i know you don't appreciate it but the subversive humor informs the tone of the Guardians films. it's why a lot of people like them. and (aside from the Hasselhoff cameo, which was used more transitionally) i don't think anything from the scene of Ego's heelturn was played for laughs.
