Also, why are there no ghosts of cavemen or neanderthals? Is it possible that ghosts have an 'expiration date' which may explain why people only see ghosts from a certain time period?
Yes. I believe that ghosts which haunt places are probably souls that are in Purgatory. Purgatory is only a temporal state, & the soul goes to Heaven eventually.
