It should probably be noted that his poems were not deleted. Some of the most recent ones were simply consolidated into a single thread. I didn't move them all simply because there are too many, but he is still free to post them in the existing thread, which will be bumped with every addition. So the "free speech" argument in this case is moot, regardless of validity or lack thereof. it is almost always the case that people talk about their rights but not their about duties. In my personal opinion every member of a community has a duty. You have permitted people to create off topic threads but that does not mean people should abuse that freedom to fill the board with their own threads that do not receive replies and add to the board in a constructive way. Yesterday when I logged in I saw that 9 of the first 10 threads on RFS were made by only 2 members and all of them were off topic. Such things can be very off putting. That's kind of what I had in mind when I decided to consolidate thefleetsin's poems. If I were looking for religious discussion, a quick skim of the first two pages would not have compelled me to post here. When I say I'm not overly concerned with off-topic posts, the stress is on "overly."  |
