Think about it, nobody ever has to teach kids 'hard your toys for yourself, don't let anybody else play with them', that is their natural instinct, 'mine', and if it's not corrected, they become adults with the same mindset. That's nature, people can't be good unless they're TAUGHT how to be good as children, AND forced to work at it until it becomes a first nature, and even then it's still always a second nature. Even when they inherently know what the right thing to do is, their first instinct is still going to be 'mine mine mine, me me me'.
