Not a lot of people know this. In 1969 ManUtd legendary manager Matt Busby retired and they had a problem finding the right successor. They tried Wilf McGuinness for a while but eventually asked Busby to take over again on a temporary basis until they found someone suitable. Over the next 10-15 years they tried, Frank O'Farrell, Tommy Docherty, Dave Sexton and Ron Atkinson before SAF arrived. But way back in 1970 when Busby was moving in as caretaker manager, they offered the job to another LEGEND, who said NO. It is fascinating to speculate on what might have happened if said LEGEND had accepted the opportunity....who knows ? That LEGEND was JOCK STEIN
