It was a big mistake from the start casting him in the 1st place. FTR, I do NOT hate Affleck as an actor but he is so wrong as Batman . WB should have went with someone much younger. You can't build a big franchise around some bloated alcoholic that is nearly 50. That was the same sentiment towards RDJ being Iron Man and he was simply a year younger than as Ben Affleck when he took that role. Yeah, but Robert Downey, jr. was nothing at the time he was cast as Ironman. Just a punchline comedians loved to make fun of as a go to "druggie hasbeen" joke. He worked because he was an unconventional choice who had something to prove. Ironman was a complete career resurrection for him, and so he has reason to actually want to secure contracts and stick around. Whereas Affleck already had his career resurrection as a director, and frankly, doesn't need Batman. He has no reason to stay on-board ship on the rocky straights, which is where the DCEU is right now.
