Freak show was really a poor season, but I thought the subsequent seasons Hotel and Roanoke were both good. I'll definitely be watching this season.
IMPO - AHS Freak Show was actually my top favorite
( the whole 1950's circus theme and characters drew me in
) 
. I agree Asylum & Hotel was another excellent set of seasons for me as well
. Unfortunately Roanoke was the weakest and a bit
disappointing of all the seasons for me - IMPO
. I'm also really looking forward to this new season
and was already impressed with the first episode
