Now fit in the clues. The Colditz Story--The Nazis used Colditz Castle as a major POW camp during WWII; it was considered inescapable (like Alcatraz), but Pat Reid and several others were able to escape from it.
Some Like It Hot--Joe and Jerry are on the run from "Spats" Colombo, based on Al Capone, who was sentenced to Alcatraz, of course.
The Citadel--the Alcatraz Citadel, of course.
Catch Me If You Can--Not sure. General theme of crime, escape, etc.?
The Pelican Brief--the clue that gave it to me. Alcatraz literally means pelican in Old Spanish, and the bird used to roost on the island.
The Dark Tower--I think this clue refers to the Alcatraz water tower, unless there's something else I'm missing.
Psycho--asylum?
