Except Homecoming has done well critically in addition to doing well financially, positive word of the mouth has made it one of the biggest hits of the summer, whereas the divisive Pirates and Transformers underperformed financial expectations.

SMH had poor word of mouth. That's why it had massive drops of 60% on its 2nd weekend and another 50% on its 3rd weekend.

And SMH underperformed financial expectations. SMH was heavily marketed as Iron Man 4 and SMH even included cameos from Captain America. So SMH had MCU's 3 most popular heroes and was supposed to have easily surpassed Wonder Woman at the domestic box office, but Wonder Woman beat SMH easily at the domestic box office.
