I was watching NHK when the latest missile was launched from North Korea. They picked up on it about three minutes after the launch and warned people in selected provinces to take shelter. They then indicated when it had passed over Hokkaido and entered the ocean. The "real time" nature of this reminded me of the first scene in Damnation Ally (1977) in which a missile launch against the US is detected and the resulting retaliation follows. It was a chillingly superb scene, but the rest of the film is pretty poor. I was wondering what other movies might have a single good scene, sort of like a "rose in the toilet bowl" so to speak. Like yours, I'm also thinking of a scene in a movie with a missile strike. Testament is about a nuclear war and how a family and a small town try to survive and cope with the aftermath. The most memorable scene is just before and then when the missile strikes. They do a really great job of building up the suspense and then have a real creepy and scary feel to it. It is just as powerful or even more so then those scenes in nuclear strike movies where they show everything getting destroyed or people getting blasted.
