I don't see why you'd need to "pick one". The demonstrable existence of some higher power wouldn't make most of the earthly mythologies any more convincing to me. I wouldn't find myself thinking "Oh, they've discovered something much more powerful than us... the story of the bet surrounding Job's kids suddenly seems so much more likely!".
