It's simply because Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 are absolutely awful games.
I thought Bayonetta was a lot of fun. It felt satisfying as all hell to juggle combos and abilities even if you could get away with button mashing and just waiting around to go into Witch Time. Whether you wanted to master the game or just get through it, the combat always felt visceral and what you were doing had some impact behind it. That's important for a brawler.
Also, I loved the campy tone of the game and Bayonetta herself is just a very enjoyable over-the-top character. The cutscenes bordered on excessive but I found them to be cheesy and entertaining.
It got a bit repetitive and maybe overstayed it's welcome but an awful game? Nah.
