Provocative and thoughtful list, one that looks honest. TARZAN AND HIS MATE has what I call the two most credible villains (although one is actually a semi-hero) in film history. Martin "my friend" is an incredibly three dimensional sort, an actual "likable" villain i dare say, with great motivation. There is so much in this film that is incredible and striking, and an "in your face" style that I don't think we see much of till Verhoeven makes his films.
"Alexander Nevsky" has a lot to offer, too. I'll pair it with "Come and See" in a "war films dealing with civilians" category. The same category as NORTHERN STAR and the one with Michael J Fox that I can't think the name of at this second. They're usually worthy films.
I'm not into the Godfather movies at all, since they're mob generated and produced solely to keep the people into seeing the mob as demi gods.
LOTR, who can argue with those incredible films?
OGRE (Der Untergang) is sort of a hidden gem. I guess that old fit into the same category as Nevsky. Looks like you like a lot of these films that see war from different angles, and that's admirable.
Your pick of 007 and Monty Python leans a bit to the drier side than I like, but I can understand it. I'm into the hard hitting 007 classics like Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, and Goldfinger. And I'm more into the slapstick of Holy Grail, while your zone is much more civilized, I admit.
One of the best top 100 lists I've seen on IMDB.
