If there's good word of mouth - and that seems to be the case - people will see the film regardless if they're familiar with the original or not. The early BO tracking suggests $40 to $45 million. But positive feedback could make the film over perform and give it legs. Prometheus opened to 51m, BR2049 should top that with rave reviews. Given the budget the movie should make at least 200m domestically and 500m worldwide to be considered a success. With no big blockbuster until Thor Rangkok, that seems possible. |
