In ANALYZE THAT, DR. BEN SOBEL tries to help mob boss PAUL VITTI get a normal job. That's what parole officers are for! The character didn't need to be a psychiatrist! Why alter the premise? Actually, the protagonists have almost no sessions. They don't even have that many conversations outside of the office. Their dynamic is what made ANALYZE THIS a riot! Speaking of, they don't work as an odd couple anymore because, due to the death of BEN's father, they're both an emotional mess. Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal's performances are still good. Once again, Lisa Kudrow seems lost. Like she doesn't know how to play her character, who by the way seems like a nagger (I'm glad that she doesn't appear in many scenes). This time, Joe Vitterelli's performance is more over-the-top. Bad idea. JELLY (one of PAUL's men) wasn't written to be funny. At least not in that way. It feels longer than its predecessor (despite being shorter) and there are out-of-character moments: -BEN snaps and punches a mobster? That's already hard to buy... but to follow that with an action hero one-liner?!
-PAUL, who's very concerned about his image, sings in public? Well, I guess he can later claim that he was crazy and didn't do that on purpose... but he does it again at the end with BEN & JELLY!
