Pretty average game to be fair. Australia dominated the first 60 minutes, before Syria dominated the closing stages when Australia began to look very ragged and tired. Not for the first time, and consistently so recently - Australia cannot convert scoring chances into goals. Hitting the post twice in a single movement at 1-0 up hurt the Australians dearly.
Moving forward, I still expect the Socceroos to qualify for the next phase with a positive result at home. We play far better at home than away, and middle eastern nations especially have an abysmal record away from the Middle East. A simple 0-0 will even suffice, not that I expect in anyway Australia's coaching staff to 'park the bus'. We've long learnt that all it ever does is cost us results and serious hiding against better sides (Brazil 0-6, France 0-6, Germany 0-4 spring to mind)
