Bet you haven't even seen Wind River yet for a "modern" Western.

A Hollywood studio crime film is way too childish (Dirty Harry is better than modern ones of the same type but its still a typical "your society is a fail" themed film-as is Unforgiven.

Try a Leone or Sollima western like Face to Face.

Or if you want a crime film,
then Almost Human starring Tomas Milian.

Hollywood films from the 60s onward had to present the strong male characters as flawed or beta-like. They didnt have time for that crap in Europe.
