At least, Halloween III has something to do with the Celtic origins of the holiday, so it's a good choice for Halloween viewing. Did you know that some of The Exorcist takes place on Halloween night? And Arsenic and Old Lace also takes place during the Halloween season.
Though Carpenter's Halloween is supposedly the "ultimate" Halloween movie, I find the atmosphere to be sorely lacking. Outside of a few pumpkins, one or two jack o'lanterns and some dead leaves skittering about here and there, I see very little about Halloween in this movie. All the leaves on the trees are green, for example.
