The quippy, one-note humor of the MCU was AWESOME... in Iron Man 1... and pretty good in Iron Man 2... just okay in Avengers, and annoying AF after that. Basically I can endure the MCU's "humor" for about 2-3 movies and then I desperately need to watch something with some intellectual underpinning and conceptual strength beyond D-list superheroes that should've never been adapted for film and late-90s "ironic wit" that was cutting edge when Buffy came out. The best thing about the DCEU movies' is their cock-and-balls approach to comic book movies, although apparently WW moves away from this quite a bit, so whatever I guess. I liked it in IM1,Avengers and Guardians. In other movies it feels forced. Imo,even tho I really like the film, the worst is in Civil War-the airport scene I think it feels even more forced in the DCEU. Stuff like Ant-man is him trying to be what he sees as a superhero. Notice he does this old-timey superhero voice. Everyone in that fight pulls their punches because they are friends (except the ones that aren't friends like Black Panther). They quip with each other because of this. Most of them know it's a diversion and not a real good vs bad fight. In the DCEU, when a moment is suppose to be humorous, they let you know (mostly the Snyder movies). Have you ever notice this head nod they do after a moment of levity? They'll say/do something and tilt their head to the side with a smirk. There might as well be a flashing neon sign saying humor.
