I am going with pure nostalgia now, not songs that I would categorize as top 10 favorites but they have something within them that takes me back instantly and some I might not have heard in years or those that I have heard almost daily, no matter what when the nostalgic feel-good factor creeps in, it can become a very powerful time-machine and create all kind of chills and goosebumps, and I am glad I still have kept most of my old cassette tapes and cds from those days. Anyway, I will start up with an all time nostalgia favorite, that sounds like winter of 1998: Scooter - No Fate (1998)Lyrics: Going back into time Blind through the night Remember, when it just took all over Taking me higher Thoughts in my mind On the roof, up lifting, and drifting away
From city to city From dawn to dawn And the whole generation Is on the run Good bye to the past, hello to the future As the struggle continues Theres no fate
Someone's gonna ask you About the truth, and the meaning Expecting another answer To be sure he's on the right side And you're on the wrong Do not listen, its your decision
From face to face, from soul to soul And the whole genereration Is out of control Good bye to the past, hello to the future As the struggle continues Theres no fateI was huge fan of the german dance/techno act Scooter during 1998-2001 and sure, they had lots of big hits, but the one song of their's which have the best "staying" power and brings up most memories is the hauntingly beautiful No Fate. A cover of Zyon's 1992 classic rap/hip-hop meets trance, but for me it sounded like Scooter's version seemed to be based more heavily upon the 1993 remix of Sven Väth - No Fate (Struggles Continues) where as Scooter included some rather "heavy" lyrics for a change, and a video which also seemed to be less "party" and more serious or at least in certain parts, however it would sadly mark the end of the classic lineup with Ferris Bueller (Sören Bühler) but they went out with a fantastic cover version, and one that I think is among their best singles, sadly it never seemed to become as popular as many of their others hits.
