ET for example was a HUGE film when it came out-it was labelled his best career-defining film, no one talks about it anymore.
It always thought most people considered Schindler's list to be one of his best movies since it's frequently listed on best of all-time lists and that movie didn't come out until the 90s. Spielberg may not have made absolute classics the last years, but I always felt like he's one of the only directors who has consistently made great movies.
