Gone are the days when a movie was chosen for tv because of viewership. They can run it as much as they want to.
They dont need the money.

And yes Jurassic Park is a simplistic sitcom humor kind of story.
They really missed the mark.
Spielberg hated stop motion so the film was designed around lifescale puppets.
That is why there are so many scenes with no dinosaurs at all.

The only reason the CGI happened was because James Cameron had developed ILM's CG division and they did tests which Spielberg liked.
