Bit of a quandary for the ECB here. Middlesex finished second-to-last in the first division by 1 point and were relegated. But they had been docked 2 points for slow play in a game that was abandoned after someone fired a crossbow bolt onto the pitch, probably from outside the stadium.
Now they're arguing they should have the points reinstated, because they didn't have a chance to improve their pace and avoid the penalty because of the match's abandonment. But if the ECB give back the points, Somerset are relegated instead, and they've already said they'll sue if that happens.
Doesn't seem to be a solution that will please everyone, so I think they have to uphold the deduction and relegate Middlesex.
