I know where the ballpark sat. About a block or two from the site of the Rogers Centre, right on the waterfront.
People don't realize now how important minor league teams meant to fans in those cities. Before TV, the majors were just a boxscore. But to a fan in Toronto, the Maple Leafs were real. Even thought the minors were becoming more and more enslaved to the majors, fans rooted for the Maple Leafs like fans in NY rooted for the Yankees. Minor leaguers were on baseball cards, did advertising ("Frank Shellenback smokes Winston's and so should you!"), hell some minor league teams had their own farm clubs. The Minors do well in attendance, but a lot of it is fireworks and Beach Boys concerts afterwards.
