Very creepy and disturbing movie. Mark is a demented serial killer but it's hard not to feel sympathy for the guy and hatred for his evil dad. The movie also manages to turn us into peeping Tom's as well in a way really effective horror movies try to do but few are able to pull off. When Mark is in the shop peddling his photos he's shown to be incredibly smug behind the customer's back. Is this because he realises every man is a hidden pervert, he's just made some serious money, or because he's getting off on the objectification and subjugation of women? It's hard to say but I feel like I've come to appreciate some of the open-ended complexities of Karlheinz Bohm's willowy performance.
