Speaking of Frenzy, that is the movie that really takes the movie goer as peeper Hitchcock thing to it's sleaziest. Probably the most uncomfortable Hitchcock movie to watch at times. Did Hitch receive a similar backlash to Michael Powell? Feels like he got away with one thanks to boasting his substantial ouvre of considerable hits. Definitely Hitchcock would have been afforded more leeway. It seems obvious that Powell was influenced by Hitchcocks voyeur theme and some scenes seem very Hitchcockian. We also have to remember PT was 1960 and Frenzy was 1972. You are right though that while PT hurt Powell's career in a major way, Frenzy was a critical and financial success and it was also probably Hitch's last great movie.
