Ironman 3 should have been like Logan with all the personal problems he was facing. But it was watered down because they were afraid it would be too heavy. IM3 still had the rest of the Universe going on and they knew RDJ would be coming back for other movies, so they weren't going to kill him off along with his supporting cast because his story wasn't done. And they dealt with his PTSD better than DOFP dealt with Xavier being a drunk and a drug user. They didnt have to kill him, they just watered down his PTSD. Walking out of a bar with an anxiety attack was about as bad as it got. And they could have made Mandarin exploit Tonys weakness and really make him suffer after Tony gives the interview to the jerk journalist where he says hes not afraid of him. The setup they gave Mandarin could have tied perfectly into Starks fear of not being able to control the threat. But Marvel are cowards and made the whole Mandarin character literally a joke. Logan's confession scene that he considered suicide and Xaviers scene of looking into Wolverines past are intense and powerful in showing their weakness, moreso than anything PTSD related for Stark.
