Have You Heard The News? (1982) Not the best sound (I know but I could not find any better, sadly). I always think that this number has a very dreamy feel to it, with chilling synths, Paul Webb's solid bass playing and then of course Mark's haunting lyrics and voice which all works on to make Have You Heard The News? stand out as one of their finest moments during their early synth-pop days.
Renee (1984) Again, a bit of an "overlooked" early Talk Talk song which somewhat is one of the more sad or haunting cuts taken from their second release It's My Life (1984) and again Paul Webb's bass, the use of cold synths, piano riffs and Mark's voice makes it stand out as maybe the strongest number on that record.
April 5th (1986) It is hard to "ignore" the seven other classic cuts from The Colour of Spring, but April 5th is such a beautiful and peaceful song and one that along with Chameleon Day would be the most "obvious" stand-out cuts as they do point out to where the band would go on from here, and never look back.
Wealth (1988) I don't normally get choked up and become all emotional when listetning to music, but this stunning final number from Spirit of Eden (1988) is one of those very rare moments and whenever I sit in the dark and listen to the whole album through, no matter how many times I have heard it over and over, finishing of with those beautiful organ sounds followed by the silence closing in, it is hard not to be moved.
New Grass (1991) Talk Talk always had a way of saving the very best for last, well maybe beside the poor finish to It's My Life (1984) with the forgettable sounding It's You, but with their final studio album, New Grass was to be the perfect closing chapters of one of the most interesting and creative british pop-rock acts of the 80s.
