My worry is that they may make Kong look 'ultra-realistic' and that sometimes leads to a modeling effect and the backgrounds don't blend that well.
Just as the Japanese don't design entirely human looking robots because they are not and tend to disturb your reality a little.
King Kong 2005 by Pete Jackson had the look right but not the casting, the fight scene between Kong and the T-Rex's is still outstanding.
