Watching the Thor films I found myself puzzled by what Asgard is?
It can't be a planet since it has a side that drops off into space, yet it has mountains & oceans - and possibly other areas.
Best guess is that it's an artificial construction, something like an outer space Columbia (Bioshock Infinite)
