Um, it actually started when there was more than one comic book company. There was always a Marvel vs DC. Honestly, who cares when it started. We need to work on making the boards more viable for conversation NOW. A critical examination of the history of fanboy conflict isn't going to help that cause. Half of the posts here end in the same two or three people having the same back and forth arguments that are mostly personal in nature. As long as there are more than 1 major comic book companies (or split studios holding the rights in the case of Marvel) there will never be peace on any board. There will always be rivals. Hell, even if there was 1 major comic book company, then the rivalry will go down to superhero groups and characters. People will always want something to be better than the other.
