Andrew Divoff really made the first two movies. The guy they replaced him with wasn't anywhere near as good. Pretty solid franchise for what it was.
Wishmaster 7/10 Wishmaster 2 6/10 Wishmaster 3 4/10 Wishmaster 4 5/10

Love the first 2. Super fun movies with great gore. The other 2 are bad, but I donβt hate them. 4 is enjoyable enough.

Andrew Divoff really made the first two movies. The guy they replaced him with wasn't anywhere near as good. You ain't kidding. Fun fact, that guy is Sean Connery's son. Proof charisma can't be passed down. But yeah, first two are guilty pleasures. 3 and 4 are weak but inoffensive, with 4 being the better of the two.

I remember the first one enough...and I think Iβve seen the second one...but itβs probably been 15 years. I remember enjoying the backfire nature of the wishes.

No, I meant John Novak who plays the Djinn in its true form. But agreed on Connery, total nonentity. By comparison, Michael Trucco was excellent in 4.

The Wishmaster movies are terrible from the get go. The basic idea isn't necessarily unworkable, but it's executed terribly. People say and do things just to support the dumb concept and not in any way that makes sense, the acting is all around horrendous, and the effects are really bad too. They populate the movie with iconic actors from horror movies, but their main villain is a shitty over actor with an annoying face, so he only comes off worse by being reminded of the good ones surrounding him. And the dialogue is atrocious. Framing things in the form of a 'wish' is such a fucking dumb conceit and comes off so supremely unnaturally and awkwardly that the fun of the dumbness is killed by how staggeringly stupid it is. There's not a hint of a genuine scare to be found anywhere, and the attempts at humor don't work outside of you laughing at the attempts to be genuine.
And the movies just get worse after the first one.

I remember moderately enjoying the first two. Don't believe I saw the last two.

Finished the whole series now. The first half being good, while the last half being really boring and dull. If I had to rank them, itβd be in release order, with 1 being the best and 4 being the worst.
I know that 3 is known by most to be their least favourite, but as bland as that one was, at least it kept the same spirit of the Djinn. 4 on the other hand, had him FALL IN LOVE and the whole movie is nothing but a sexual fantasy ride.

Just watched all four last week. Andrew Divoff had that great creepy voice, he was the best thing about the first two movies...then they replaced him and it wasn't the same. Divoff probably saw it as another Freddy Krueger type role and the producers didn't care about quality and were simply interested in saving money and making a quick buck.

Divoff was the best thing about the first two films, bar none. And to replace him felt like something was very missing.

The hot lead actress in 4 saved the film for a couple of good reasons.

I liked the 'Wishmaster' franchise especially the first two movies and I hope Andrew Divoff is able to bring it back 'cause I think there are still a lot of things they could do with 'Wishmaster' movies and agree with Robert Englund's comments about them deserving more respect and there being at least one more to be made. Andrew Divoff wants to make a 'Wishmaster 5' and believes the franchise has a lot of life left in it and if they can come up with the money this time I wouldn't mind seeing them use the script he wrote for 'Wishmaster: The Third Millennium' but it would have to be altered if they set it in the present. His script sounded heaps better than what we got in 'Wishmaster 3 and 4.' bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3428338/robert-englund-talks-wishmaster-franchise-deserved-respect/bloody-disgusting.com/news/3431389/andrew-divoff-wants-return-wishmaster-5/
