My favorite video game of all time is Dragon's Lair and I always liked Space Ace, but now I'm loving it thanks to the Daphne laserdisc emulator. This game is brutally difficult with no direction prompt, but that's the whole point. Most people (wimpy mellenials) find games like this too hard, not me it's a great unique classic.

I think most people found too hard I imagine you love it now since you don't have to feed coins into a machine every time you lose too many lives.

As a kid, I probably played Space Ace in the arcade a total of 3 times and couldn't even get the first move correct. The key for making Space Ace very enjoyable now is to set it for infinite lives on the emulator. I don't think I would find it challenging enough if I could turn on a directional prompt featured in the new console versions of Space Ace. I still go through the hard earned memorization and timing of each move, but with the safety net of unlimited lives.

I'd pay for it if it was on the Xbox Arcade or the Nintendo e-shop. But I know I would have gotten frustrated playing it in the arcade and I probably would have feed too many quarters in the machine.

I've never bought games as downloads, so I'm not sure if Xbox Arcade or the Nintendo e-shop has it, but I believe it's available for purchase on Steam if that's any help.

It's way too hard even when there was an easy setting. When I get really stuck, I watch a game play video on Youtube to find out the next move I need to make, but it IS damn hard still. It's pretty mind boggling to think some kids were able to beat this game in the arcades. There is a combination of agony and ecstasy to Space Ace and Dragon's Lair unlike any other video game. For me, the animation is so superb it's worth immersing myself in and the pure nostalgia is "off the charts." These classic laserdisc games are truly a different kind of gaming experience.

It took me 10 bucks of quarters to get past the opening spaceship scene and then I never got past the planet landing. I gave up and worked on my Ms. Pac-Man skills.

Well, I FINALLY beat the last level. My 12 year old self never thought this would be possible. It was MURDER, much harder than the last level of Dragon's Lair. Now I need to go back and do the Dexter only levels without turning into Ace.
