1.The Thomas Crown Affair - 9/10 2.The Green Mile - 8-8.5/10 3.The Ninth Gate - 8/10 (my #1 Polanski movie and my 2nd favorite Johnny Depp movie) 4.Payback (this is the most changed I have seen from the regular to directors cut as the ending area is totally different etc) 5.American Beauty - 6-6.5/10
p.s. Fight Club is the gold standard of overrated. it's below average at best. Pitt's best movie is Spy Game (2001)(9/10) and Norton's best movie is 25th Hour (2002)(9/10).

So is The Matrix, yet members in flocks voted for these films and the popularity of these films have never really went away most unfortunately.

Toy Story 2. One of my all time favorite movies.
Iron Giant, The Mummy, and Tarzan would be my second choices.

Out of those i'd choose The Matrix but it's close between it and Fight Club. The Green Mile is my fav film from 1999 though

@mwpp294
I would agree The Matrix is overrated but it's not the gold standard of overrated like Fight Club is. basically Fight Club is the highest ranked movie on the IMDb Top 250 (@ #11) that I think is below average (i.e. 4/10) at best.
NOTE: I used to be a huge fan of the first two Matrix movies but not anymore (as of re-watches in Nov 2015) even though I still do like them. hell, I honestly prefer the 2nd movie (6-6.5/10) over the 1st (6/10) at this point in time. I first seen the first matrix movie probably not too long after it was out on VHS and then looked forward to the 2nd/3rd movies in 2003. the 3rd movie never really stood out for me even though I do like it.
p.s. hell, I even used to think Fight Club was solid enough back around the mid-2000's. but basically... prior to my re-watch of it on April 10th 2013 (prior to this viewing I would estimate I have not re-watched it since roughly mid-2000's) I had a feeling it was going to take a solid hit for me, and while I was right that it did, I did not expect it to drop off as much as it did. while I can't speak for everyone I have a feeling that movie mainly appeals highly to the young crowds as they seem to act like it's the best thing since sliced bread etc.
