Yep, in the book the Olympian Gods were part of the war and took sides (except for Zeus, who had to remain neutral since he was the King of the Gods) but the movie didn't have that. The movie also didn't have Cassandra's prophecies of doom and didn't have Agamemnon sacrificing his daughter, which Avengers: Infinity War ripped off by having Thanos sacrifice his daughter. Oh yeah I remember Cassandra was absent--big miss! Although the 1997 tv miniseries the Odyssey wasn't what I envisioned either, I did like the 20 second version of the Iliad in the opening, especially since they shot it in Turkey near to where the historic site of Troy was said to be. Wasn't Armand Assante in the 1997 Mini-Series ?
