So the Mets get another catcher who can't stay healthy and the Reds get another starter who can't get anyone out. Bonus! How much are these GM's making? do 'fresh starts' ever work out in sports? i.e. 2nd chances and a change of scenery - but are there any examples recently of a player blossoming (in any sport) with a change of scenery in recent memory? hey twothousandonemark (sorry if i got your name wrong - can't scroll up) - there was a phil a few years back - he was regarded as a 5 Tool Prospect - this is when they were riding high like 2007-2011 - his name was Domonic Brown - was so excited when they called him up - i think i remember his first at bat he even hit a laser double off the fence....... he completely bombed here. last i saw he was on the Jays (at least I thought) - do you know of, heard of a 'Domonic Brown'? Sure do. Look at Justin Verlander for a recent example. As the team began descending into the abyss, he had devolved from a once-elite pitcher to a quality but hardly memorable player. Forgettable even, with moments of really showing some age. He gets traded to a contender and now he's back among the elite. Even his body language has improved.

Lost. Look at Gerrit Cole. I don't think moving to NY will make Punxsutawney's own Devin Mesorasco more healthy. He played in a mere 95 games from 2014 to 2017. Travis "Oh the Pain, the Pain" d'Arnaud has played more games. And playing for a team that's 8-27 and has an average home attendance of 57 will certainly help a player with a poor attitude.

Even his body language has improved. maybe i phrased it wrong. my fault. verlander was a stud as you mentioned. take all sports. nfl, nba, mlb, nhl. take a highly regarded prospect - remember the giant OLineman the Colts picked - Tony Mandarich (spelling?) - he bombed. Take Dominic Brown above I mentioned (hell - take the dud the Phils got too was selected #1 - Can't remember if it was the Giles or Hamels trade), take the Anthony Bennetts of the NBA, the Alexander Daigle's in the NHL..... was there ever a guy who never lived up to potential and was a bomb - but then he turned his career around due to a change of scenery?

Couple Raiders QB, Jeff George and Jim Plunkett. Both were "meh" until the hit the Silver and Black.

George was 1st overall. Wasn't much with the Colts and Falcons. He put up numbers but didn't get along with Gruden. Then came Rich Gannon. Plunkett was another #1 overall. Nothing with the Pats, two rings with the Raiders. The Raiders had a way of milking great seasons out of players who were thought to be over the hill. Ted Hendricks, Lyle Alzado, George Blanda, Darryl Lamonica. All of which has fuck all to do with what you're are asking, of course. there has to be failed baseball prospects who caught with other teams. But I can't come up with one right now. The one baseball prospect you were trying to come up with is Mark Appel. #1 overall by Houston, thought to be a sure fire starter in the Aaron Nola mode. Did shit, got traded to the Phils and did worse. Will be the first #1 overall never to make the major without an injury issues. Even Shawn Abner and Bryan Bullington got their cups of coffee.

reds got harvey - guess it couldn't hurt My initial response to this was somewhere along the lines of "what the fuck." But Meso has been very bad so might as well take a chance, however middling it is. Then again that "he's been bad, so why not" logic can also be applied to 90% of the roster.

Roberto Osuna arrested for domestic assault. Toronto sports 2018, where everything goes to die. How so true!

Chris Tillman gets chases after an inning and a third against the mighty Royals. O's have a .250 winning percentage, which translated to roughly 116 losses and this team won't get any better, but will get substantially worst by the trade deadline. It's a shame. If I was Dan Duquette, I wouldn't spend my own money to redecorate my office. They really should have shopped players this offseason instead of pissing money on Andrew Cashner (who's been bad) and Alex Cobb (who's been atrocious).
Sorry again, nut.

The O’s may be worse than the Reds, it’s unreal how horrid their pitching is. They need to just blow up the roster, trade everyone and start from scratch.

Reds better start doing better with their trades. They got nothing for Johnny Cueto, nothing for Aroldis Chapman, nothing for Jay Bruce. Can't do that with Votto, if the trade Votto.

Machado has to go before he walks. They won’t be worth a tin shit without Manny. I’d get what I could out of everything else and rebuild like the Astros did. They will lose 110+ for three years but what they’re going now isn’t working.

Chris Sale throws 561 pitches because Alex Cora doesn't dare go to the bullpen. I guess Dumbrowski couldn't cough up a few bucks for bullpen help. All you had to do was watch a few tapes to see how shitty the pen was up to Kimbrel. The pen will be the difference between the Yanks and the Sox.
Jake Arrieta pitches a masterpiece, 7.2 IP, 5 hits, zero runs. Phillies phucked up closer throws a BP session and the Mets win. If I'm Jake Arrieta, I pound this ineffectual asshole after the game. Surprised this doesn't happen more.
