There is a chaotic (and hilarious) trial in the Marx Bros’ Duck Soup (1933) There is a great one in John Ford’s Young Mr. Lincoln (1939) that is more historical than you might think at first. There is a kind of supernatural trial in All That Money Can Buy (a.k.a. The Devil And Daniel Webster) (1941). There is a trial in Heaven in A Matter Of Life And Death (1946) Ginger Rogers goes on trial in Roxie Hart (1942) – based on the play that Chicago (2002) was based on. Good ones, Mike. My favorite two are on many people's lists here and I can't improve on them (i.e. come up with courtroom dramas I prefer or like as much): 12 Angry Men, really a jury room drama but it takes place in a courthouse and deals with a jury's deliberations on a murder case. Anatomy Of A Murder, a joy to watch, listen to and take in the stark beauty of the Michigan U.P. Beyond praise. I love its "formal excellence" as I do the same kind of excellence in such very different non-courtroom films as the Astaire-Rogers musicals; the best classic era horror films; and the best Noirs, the ones that don't miss a beat, from Double Indemnity through Sorry, Wrong Number; and the equally perfectly times comedies of such directors as Ernst Lubitsch and Preston Sturges. Too many to name.

Tsuma wa kokuhaku suru , A Wife Confesses (1961) Yasuzô Masumura Was it self-preservation or an opportunistic act of cold-blooded murder ?... Housewife Ayako stands trial for the death of her husband while on a climbing expedition in the Japanese Alps. An accident left the climbers dangling from a single rope. Ayako claims she cut the rope which sent her husband plunging to his death to save herself... A tense and compelling courtroom drama ensues, the claustrophobia of the court is highlighted with super stylish b&w cinematography. Superb performances especially from enchanting Ayako Wakao the twisting tale is a thought provoking exceptional courtroom drama. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!
