I'm just wondering, since it is a remake: Does it have the same part in the first film where the main character says, 'sorry to be an indian giver."
What i'm getting at is, do they use the same line from the original film, the one I just repeated?

Yeah, I've seen it. It's fucking terrible. I don't think that line is used in the remake.
"Ha Ha! You think this is the real Quaid? It is!" Gets me every time.

Yeah, it's a shit movie too. And the original isn't even one of my favorite Arnold flicks.

Fun Fact: TOTAL RECALL (1990) was only the second film ever that I saw three times in theaters.

The only things that I liked about the "TOTAL RECALL" remake were Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel.
Nothing Else!

1/10 Awful film with tons of awful lens flares. One of the worst remakes ever.

Len Wiseman was trying to make a serious version of the 1990 movie in the vein of Minority Report and Blade Runner (something I am totally on board with btw), but he is a below average filmmaker and was unable to pull it off. It also doesn't help that he was working from a mediocre script.

It wasn’t terrible, but it just wasn’t very good either. It really should not have been called Total Recall though. You can see in some scenes where they tried to recreate specific scenes from the original, but not done as well. Also did anyone find it the least bit odd Colin Farrell was cast in this right after the Fright Night remake?

But all jokes aside, I thought that the movie was mediocre honestly. I wasn't expecting anything great from it, since it's a remake and it's taking itself seriously, which is something TR isn't known for to begin with. And as for the callbacks to the original, they felt really forced and contrived. It's best if they just didn't reference it all the time, if none.

The story can be adapted into a serious movie though, especially considering the source material is a lot more serious than the original 1990 movie. Paul Verhoeven simply chose to adapt it into a campy movie because that is his style.

The book was just so overshadowed by the '90 movie that whenever people think of Total Recall, they think of the Arnie flick.
