Who was the better trash talker among these two? Whose mic skills you liked more?
I liked the Rock and his mic skills much more than Stone Cold's. But then there may be many who liked Austin more.
LMAO....Only Rock could make people chant at will.

The Rock had the ability to make people laugh. Remember the segment in which imitated the Big show and Kane? He was truly awesome. Stone-cold relied mostly on expletives and red-neck persona. The Rock could not just use expletives as efficiently as stone cold but also act like a stand up comedian. Also, The Rock was far more handsome than stone cold. Thanks for that link. I will watch that now.

Austin. He was always booked as a serious character until his 2001 heel turn. When everyone else was doing comedy bits and going OTT, Austin's character was kept away from the BS, because your top star should never be made to look like a joke. And he had the intensity to pull it off. The Rock was amusing, but many times, particularly as a heel, he strayed into goofy. His heel work was very different to his face work, Austin's (pre 2001) were about the same. And that's the key with successfuly going from heel to face.

It was because of him that WWF beat WCW in both ratings and revenue. That said The Rock embraced the responsibility of face quite in absence of Stonecold. In terms of being the biggest star of attitude era Austin is no doubt the no.1. But Austin is not very liked outside of USA. The redneck persona is not very loved in placed like Arab or Africa or India or Japan. The same is not true about the Rock or the Undertaker. Undertaker is possibly the greatest global superstar that WWE has ever offered. The Rock may be the no.2. Stone Cold at the same time is literally unrecognisable outside of developed countries. But yes, in USA, Austin was no.1. 1997-98 Austin is possibly the greatest WWE star in terms of bringing revenue and all.

While they were possibly the top two talkers in the WWF, I gotta go with Austin also. He told a story better with his promos. The Rock tended to just drop in his catchphrases all over the place.

That's a difficult one. I am going to say the Rock but I think Steve Austin was better at being a more serious trash talker while most of the time the Rock was also trying to make people laugh.

The Rock had the best mic skills. Austin, Flair, Hogan, HHH, Edge, Savage they're all good, but the Rock has them beat. He electrifies the crowd in a way that no else does.

The Rock had more range. Had Jericho intro'd with Austin for example, there probably wouldn't be much trash talk & merely Steve stunning him. Like the Lesnar's return, no mic, just kill Cena.
Austin on his way up the ladder though was nearly as f'n hot though, before the strong silent persona took hold.

I would say Austin had the end in late 90's with his epic promo "3:16" and his feud with Bret/HBK/Tyson and so on. Then once the 2000's hit I think Rock went to a whole nother level in terms of mic work. He became more versatile in he could be serious and funny when he wanted to. His whole Hollywood persona was peak Rock in my mind where he was having his great concerts and calling Hurricane the Hamburgler and so on. Austin in his 2nd half of his career all I can really remember was his really bad heel turn and the constant annoying "WHAT?!" chants. You want to talk about Rock being lazy with all his catch phrases in promo's none of that compares to Austin just saying the same word over and over again.
So yeah, Austin had the better mic work early on and then Rock over took him once the 2000's hits.
Personally, I'll take Jericho's mic work over both of them though. Jericho has managed to be excellent on the mic being as versatile as the Rock for 3 decades.
