ST TNG: Season 5: "Cause and Effect" " The Enterprise becomes stuck in a time loop..." In the opening teaser sequence, before the credits... The Enterprise is destroyed. Did anyone one else find this shocking, and thought you missed part of the episode, the first time you saw it?

I didnt like how Trek canon constantly breaks it own rules regarding time travel
1/6 of the time the timeline can be reset and 1 or 2 person ( who changed it ) remembers (Past tense) 1/6 of the time timeline is changed and nobody remembers ( Year of hell/twilight) 1/6 of the time everyone remembers the change even though people were erased from existence (E2/Children of Time) 1/6 of the time someone going back in time creates and alternate reality ( Star Trek film 2009) 1/6 of the time they make some changes and nothing happen really (trials and tribblelations). 1.6 of the time people all forget about the changes but subconciously everything seems familiar( cause and effect)
The universe cant be this badly designed. They should have made timetravel rules and stuck to it.
