I give him six months. Six months of hilarity, to be precise. On a less hilarious note, I know I'll be in a minority on this thread, but IMO the last thing most Celtic fans want is a domestic challenge from anywhere, and if there is any danger of one emerging they'll just buy the offending club's best players as per usual. Bearing in mind that the financial gulf between Celtic and Aberdeen or Hibs (let alone Killie or Motherwell) is greater than that between PSG or Barca and Celtic.

Pundits were saying on a football social on radio the other evening that if Stevie G wants a serious career as a manager, he should give Rangers a miss as his first gig. Saying it will probably go bad on him, and he will then struggle to get good offers on the back of it.

Saying it will probably go bad on him, and he will then struggle to get good offers on the back of it. They're talking rubbish IMO. It's an amazing opportunity for your first gig, and at the end of the day, he could fail anywhere, he could go to Barnsley and fail, he could go to to Slimbridge and fail... all he's gotta do up there is come 2nd and close the gap on Celtic. My gran could do that! At least I don't *think* anyone expects him to win the league in his first season. Personally, I believe if you work hard enough, you can succeed in almost any job (within reason), just a matter if he's prepared to do 16 hour days and throw himself into it. Most managers probably don't. But then most managers normally fail. Even a lot of very good managers failed miserably in their first gig, Wenger got relegated in his first job, so did Conte, and so did Klopp. He'd still get a job, I reckon, in the lower leagues in England, even if he did fail miserably at Rangers (which chances are he probably will).

He ain't coming to manage Slimbridge! We're not throwing our Freddy under a bus for Stevie G.

Couldn't the language barrier be a problem? Possibly. Depends how thick his scouse is. As long as he doesn't bring Carragher with him.

Very disappointed by this news. Absolutely despise Scottish football, it's cesspool of old firm sectarianism, Chic Young and all those Radio Scotland clowns, Roddy Forsyth and his puke-worthy sycophantic reporting of Celtic hammering their latest opponent to the wider UK audience, etc, etc....
Whatever he does now, Gerrard will forever be tainted by association in some small way.
