The Kentucky Derby is always going to be huge. The Preakness always has the chance for the Kentucky Derby winner to get the first two legs. The Belmont is going to be worth almost nothing many years, but on the years when the horse wins the first two legs, the chance at the Triple Crown will always bring in huge ratings. So which of the races has the advantage when it comes to the average sports fan's interest?

To be? Like you are the race itself?
I'd say the Derby, unless a horse has won the first 2 races and then the Belmont is the superbowl/finals game 7 of that year. So anything but the Preakness.

used to bartend @ the preakness, so i'll say that. Were you in the infield? The Kegasus area? I had four friends in college who were in the infield all the time for the Preakness - - they have some really good stories to tell.

As Matthew Perry said on Friends, "Could I be any more of a horse race?"

The Derby, of course. The Belmont can be bigger, only if you have a Triple Crown threat. And it's usually the graveyard of the TC hopes. Funny Cide, Charismatic, Smarty Jones, Real Quiet, Spectacular Bid, California Chrome and many more. It's a mile and a hald, it's three weeks after the Preakness, instead of two and three Grade One races in six weeks is tiring.

used to bartend @ the preakness, so i'll say that. The Preakness is like the Larry of the Three Stooges, or the "Other guy" in the Three Tenors.
