When I first saw the scene of Thanos sacrificing Gamora in Infinity War, I immediately thought "They ripped off The Iliad with that scene". But aside from the fact that they ripped off that scene from The Iliad, at first I thought they were going to be clever in that scene and make it a catch-22 scenario. But MCU really fucked it up and just made it 1 of the worst scenes ever written.
Thanos is told that in order to get the soul stone, he has to be willing to sacrifice someone he loves. So Thanos throws Gamora off the cliff and gets the soul stone just like that. Really terrible, bullshit scene!
To get the soul stone, he has to be willing to sacrifice someone he loves. But if he's willing to throw Gamora off a cliff just for a stone, then he doesn't really love Gamora. So it should've been a catch-22 scenario for Thanos: If you want the soul stone, you have to sacrfice someone you love. But if you sacrifice someone, then you can't get the soul stone because that someone you were willing to sacrifice wasn't the person you loved.
That would've been clever and I would've given Infinity Wars a higher rating if they had been clever enough to do that. But once again, MCU fucked it up.
That's 1 of the worst scenes in Hollywood history. Because MCU is saying in that scene to all the child abusers out there that it's OK for a father to say he loves his daughter and then abuse or kill her. Abusing or killing your child is never OK and is NOT love. Any parent who loves their child would never do that. But MCU is saying that is love, which makes that 1 of the most bullshit scenes in Hollywood history.

Nah I was ok with it. For one, I’m not familiar with that part of the Iliad so it didn’t feel like a rip-off to me. I didn’t have trouble buying that Thanos loved Gamora. Looking at the context of the situation, he had to choose between loving a daughter and accomplishing his greatest mission in life. The movie already sets up several cases of other characters having to make he choice of sacrificing a loved one for the greater good. I don’t know why it’s so unbelievable to think that for Thanos.

I assumed you were joking, but, it sounds like you really were offended. He's offended because Marvel did it. If the similar thing happened in a DCEU film it would have been brave, original, moving and Oscar worthy

Let's not forget: Pa Kent advocated Clark letting a bus of school children drown just to protect a secret.

How does this moron get up in the morning? He is seriously a waste of life. Besides that, the scene was the best on the movie and very well done. Not one DCEU movie has had a scene as good. NOT ONE.

To this community here: there's been complaints that this film is too recent so spoiler tags should be used, and I obliged.
