How can anyone not love him? Great at playing the every day man roles.

He was brilliant, and gone too soon too! I remember watching the movie Dad, so sad I wanted to cry! Just the best!

I'll second Glengarry Glen Ross. He does a superb job of eliciting a little sympathy for Levene yet never letting us forget what a huckster he is. He plays a similar figure in Save the Tiger for which he won Best Actor.

He and Walter Matthau, Grumpy but Lovable Old Men Yeah. What an odd couple. They also star in the underrated The Fortune Cookie.

Ones I've seen him in so far that I can recall.
Missing Out of Towners (Will never bother with the remake. Never.) Days of Wine and Roses The Odd Couple My Fellow Americans (Really great one. Check it out.) Save the Tiger The Prisoner of Second Ave (Gonna re-watch it soon) The Apartment Some Like It Hot (Others like it. Just meh for me. Still a classic.) Grumpy Old Men (Don't know what the hype was all about.) Tuesdays with Morrie (About a dying man. How poignant since he made that one towards his end.) Glengarry

I think Glengarry Glen Ross should have ended with Lemmon losing it, grabbing one of Alec Baldwin's steak knives and plunging it into Kevin Spacey's chest while screaming "You're fired! You're fired!! Always be closing, motherfucker!"
I think it would have punctuated the dreariness.

I will never, ever get it how important steak knives are supposed to be following first prize as a Caddy. It would have made more sense to have a trip to Hawaii or a cruise or a new dishwasher or a new suit. Steak knives are a joke for a 2nd prize.

I always took that to be the point (no pun intended): they're meant as an insult; top closer gets the Caddy; anyone else gets contempt and shame.

Two late mid-period dramatic performances worth seeing from Jack Lemmon - 'The China Syndrome' (1979) and 'Missing' (1982).

Missing is just such an epic movie. Re-watched it recently. The sad thing is it was based on a true story. How can Americans do that to one of their own?

#1 Jack remains OUT OF TOWNERS. I never had any interest in the re-make. Might have tried it for all of 10 seconds when I saw it was on TV. Changed the channel. I own the original and I don't buy movies that often.

The Prisoner of Second Ave(1972) was also, like The Out of Towners, a funny NYC satire, and Lemmon was great in it, but the film suffers when he's not on screen
